Pompeii Half-Day Tour from Naples or Sorrento

Walking tour in one of the oldest city of the Roman Time

WITH
Fabrizio's TEAM | about the guide

IMPORTANT NOTE: The tour must start before 9 a.m. in the morning or after 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon.

The dazzling city of Pompeii used to be an example of development and modernity back in the 4th century B.C. After being buried by the ashes of the erupted Mount Vesuvius volcano in the summer of 79 A.D., it became only ruins. Today, Pompeii remained incredibly well preserved and offers a great testimony of the Ancient Rome life, culture and traditions. On this private walking tour led by a certified guide, see the UNESCO-listed archeological main remains of one of the oldest cities of all time, as well as its valued artifacts. From Naples or Sorrento, you will travel in a comfortable car and enjoy a skip-the-line and worry-free experience into the history. As you wander the ancient streets made of basalt (volcanic rock), let your guide tell you about the homes, works, customs and people who used to live here. The city gates, the Suburban Bath House, the Forum with all its buildings and their specific functions (religion, trade, administration, politics…), the Public Baths where everyone could access to a daily hygiene (men or women, free or slaves...), the brothel (Roman red light district) with its erotic frescoes, and the bakeries where we can still find some carbonized organics such as almonds, figs or dates, and the famous outdoor Grande Teatro where once 5000 people could be seated to enjoy games like gladiators or beast fights. At the end of your tour, take a break with a fresh orange juice and some shopping time in the souvenir shops. Your guide will drive you back to the departure point.

Born and raised in Naples (I am a real local!), I have been guiding for 20 years and since the age of 17, starting with some tours in Pompeii. I have a Master's Degree in Art History and a solid experience being a tour manager in different European countries as well as in the Caribbean sea. Today I can speak also Spanish, French, and English, a language skill I improved while living in Canada for 6 months. Licensed guide and driver, I enjoy meeting new people and helping them discover my beautiful city and its surroundings. Today I manage a small tourism company in Naples and the Campania, and I work together with another passionate guide named Giuseppe. Our goal is to make you feel at home in this welcoming region, so we designed unique itineraries to show you the best of Naples, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, and Pompeii. I am passionate about the Ancient Roman Times, the Baroque art, the archeology, but also nature (I am a beekeeper during my free time) and its treasures. Something else about me: I love playing music (accordion, trumpet and frame drums) and travelling with my two children. Let me show you the authentic Campania region and tell you some tales that span millennia of history.

We visited Pompeii with Giuseppe starting right when the gates opened for a 2 ½ hour tour. Giuseppe did an excellent job putting the Pompeiians on the streets and in the buildings for us. The stones have a lot of stories to tell, and Giuseppe was an excellent interpreter, tying the information to our existing knowledge and interests. Two and a half hours can be a lot or a little, depending on how efficiently the time is used. Giuseppe packed it full. We ended up taking a bit longer than the allotted time, and that counts from when we actually were in the gate, not just from the meeting time. With the morning tour, it pays to hit the most popular spots first to beat the crowds and Giuseppe knew the route to take. We stayed on to see some more of Pompeii on our own. Reading the signs and the guide brochure, while informative, was a pale comparison to having a deeply knowledgable and engaging guide. RERUSTICA

What an amazing character is Fabrizio. Energetic, passionate, informative, knowledgeable and fun :) Exceptional tours through Pompeii and Herculaneum gave us the behind the scenes information that would be lost on the average visitor. Fast and efficient service, prompt and attentive. We could not recommend Fabrizio any more highly. Thank you for an amazing tour that will stay with us for a very long time.ROBERT M.
